Global music sensation Post Malone is set to electrify Guwahati on December 8, 2025, marking Assam’s biggest international concert yet! Announced by Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, this mega-event kicks off the state’s Concert Economy Policy, a game-changing initiative to boost tourism, culture, and local businesses in Northeast India.

A New Era for Assam’s Music Scene

The Grammy-nominated rapper, known for hits like “Circles,” “Sunflower,” and “Rockstar,” will headline in Guwahati, with plans for future concerts in Jorhat and Dibrugarh. The policy, approved by the Assam Cabinet on May 21, 2025, in Dergaon, aims to rival Meghalaya’s thriving music scene, which has hosted stars like Ed Sheeran and Bryan Adams. Sarma cited Gujarat’s Coldplay concert, which generated ₹600 crore, as inspiration for Assam’s push into the concert economy.

“Assam has been left out of the concert tourism economy for too long. With Post Malone, we’re putting Guwahati on the global music map,” Sarma said at a press briefing.

The state will develop world-class venues with advanced lighting and audio technology in Guwahati, Jorhat, and Dibrugarh, supported by Viability Gap Funding from Assam Tourism to attract organizers and investors.
